Communication and Well-being

Developed in collaboration with The Christie’s Maguire Communication Skills Training Unit® and Complementary Therapies team, this course is a fantastic introduction to the essential communication skills required so you can positively engage with patients and help to alleviate and manage their anxieties.

This e-learning course can be completed at each candidate’s own pace and at a time and place to suit both the participant’s and the organisation’s requirements.

Suitable for all patient facing staff.

Learning Outcomes

  • Recognise the importance of the patient experience.
  • Recognise verbal and non-verbal cues.
  • Describe the impact of effective communication on the patient experience.
  • Identify communication behaviours that enhance or negatively impact the patient experience.
  • Explain what anxiety is, how it can affect people and what might cause it.
  • Develop skills to support anxious patients both pre-scan day and on scan day.
  • Develop rapport-building and communication skills with anxious patients.
  • Recognise the importance of language use and develop active listening skills.
