IV Cannulation and Administration of Radiopharmaceuticals Level 1

Clinical Assistants

Delivered by The Christie PET-CT Academy’s specialist Clinical Skills trainer, this course teaches Clinical Assistants to perform IV cannulations and administer radiopharmaceuticals in a safe learning environment.

This course takes a blended learning approach that combines a theory component on our e-learning platform with attending a face-to-face simulation training assessment. You can attend the face-to-face simulation training assessment either in person at The Christie in our state-of-the-art clinical training centre, or virtually.

Please note, if you have no prior experience of cannulating, please book onto an in-person simulation training assessment.

Learning Outcomes

  • Develop the necessary skills to effectively perform IV Cannulations and administer radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Discuss vein and venous assessments.
  • Develop an awareness of quality patient care and management, including complications, anaphylaxis, and ongoing care.
  • Develop the skills and knowledge to effectively manage and clean up radioactive spills.

Prerequisites

Before you book onto a face-to-face or virtual simulation training assessment, please consult with your manager to ensure you meet the pre-requisites such as ILS and Hep B Immunity.
